SEO & Flash, but a dream…

Who doesn’t want to be able to create a searchable website? Now ask yourself how to search a Flash website, I’ll give you a minute, still thinking?

First of all, I really haven’t found a way to actually search a flash swf - probably because it’s damn near impossible. Instead you have to keep your content separate and rely upon proven methods. When I say but a dream, really I mean there is a bit of magic involved that doesn’t solely rest on Flash. It requires keeping your data separate, most likely in the form of XML, either in an external file or statically coded in the HTML with CDATA tags, and then loading it dynamically into Flash.

Google can search the data and Flash reuses the same content - this site’s headlines are Flash using sIFR and reusing div data. I’ll expand on this later, for now, here are some links:
